Version 5

2026-10-23

• Window borders are now drawn by XPlasma's own KWin decoration plugin instead of a generated Aurorae theme.
• Fixed KWin >=6.7 losing window title shadows across logins.
• Switching themes now redraws open windows on the spot.
• Plasma themes generate ~20x faster and skip icons when not needed.
• The clock's backdrop no longer covers the right edge of the system tray's last icon.

Version 4

2026-10-23

• Sharper at 200% scale: window frames, the taskbar and icons no longer blur, and text is smoothed where Windows XP would smooth it on a high-resolution screen.
• Dolphin's icons stay crisp when zoomed in.
• Changing the display scale updates the text right away, and XPlasma offers to restart Plasma so the taskbar follows.
• Taskbar button text is crisp again on Plasma 6.8.
• Numbers in System Settings' spin boxes are no longer cut off.

Version 3

2026-10-23

• Fixed: LibreOffice crashing when it opened a document or its Options under the XP style.

Version 2

2026-10-21

• New: XP's Turn Off Computer dialog, the official theme packs from Setup (Royale in all its colours, Zune, Embedded), optional translucent pointer outlines, and an About tab.
• Fixed: Plasma 6.8's tray, taskbar and notifications, the Start menu's transparency and logo, and sound previews.

Version 1

2026-09-25

• The first release of XPlasma: Windows XP's looks and sounds for KDE Plasma.
